Uncomfortable 17-3 victory for No. 10 Alabama as it pulls away late from USF.

No. 10 In a slow-paced contest that featured weather delays, quarterback changes, and many other shocks, Group of Five opponent Alabama defeated USF by a final score of 17-3.

In place of Jalen Milroe, who started the first two games for the Crimson Tide, Tyler Buchner, a transfer from Notre Dame, began the first game this season at quarterback. Just before halftime, Buchner was replaced by Ty Simpson, a redshirt freshman, after completing just five of his 14 throw attempts for 34 yards.

The USF attack was well restrained by the Alabama defense, with the only score coming on a field goal that was kicked off a short field after a botched punt.
